![]() Bashir, and Nog continued their Starfleet careers. Meanwhile, other characters like Ezri Dax, Dr. It's still under the command of Kira but she's now a Vedek. What has happened to DS9 since?Īccording to the Ds9's writers in What We Left Behind, DS9 season 8 would have picked up 20 years later with the space station turned into a temple to the Prophets. But all of that happened 20 years ago when Star Trek: Picard picks up things. Several Starfleet personnel left the station for other posts and the station was left under the command of Colonel Kira Nerys of the Bajoran Militia. Is Deep Space Nine still guarding the Bajoran Wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant and is it still a Federation-controlled space station? The United Federation of Planets and their allies the Klingon and the Romulan Empires won the Dominion War at the end of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Here are some questions we hope Star Trek: Picard can answer: But there are enough ways the two series intersect in the shared Star Trek universe that hopefully, fans can get some info on what became of Deep Space Nine and its crew. It's unlikely DS9 actors will guest star in Star Trek: Picard or that the new series will directly address the events of Deep Space Nine. Therefore, Star Trek: Picard is in a prime position to finally deliver some answers about what's happened over the last 20 years. The Deep Space Nine documentary What We Left Behind featured that series' writers plotting the first episode of a theoretical DS9 season 8, which would be set 20 years later, but their ideas, while intriguing, can't be considered as canon, unfortunately. I’ll leave you with this final convention image, just to put it in proper scale, unlike the edited picture above.Related: Where Picard Takes Place In The Star Trek TimelineĪfter the final TNG film, Star Trek: Nemesis, and Star Trek: Voyager's return home, the Star Trek franchise spent the next 17 years looking backward with prequel TV series and Abrams' films set in an alternate timeline of the 23rd century. Other areas are finished with studs, which is less sleek but perhaps more accurate.Īs for the rest, it is so large and impressive that I am at a loss for words. The structure is so large that the curves are created by the natural space in between 1×2 pieces when slightly strained, giving much of it a smooth finish. Among the myriad of parts used include the lasso of truth, a chicken, katanas, faucets and flags. They are also a pleasant departure from the typical light grey greebles one sees on many spaceship builds. I love the pearl gold greebles in the docking pylons, as they offer a nice contrast with the dark grey. Now, I have never seen the show (I preferred Star Wars to Star Trek as a kid, when it felt like you had to choose between them) so I don’t know any details that I couldn’t get from Wikipedia, but it looks awesome even without any context. From what I gather, it was in operation during approximately the same time as the events of The Next Generation and Voyager. ![]() Deep Space Nine served as an outpost from which Starfleet could explore the Gamma Quadrant via a wormhole. The real thing (or “real” thing, since it is a fictional space station set in a sci-fi TV series) is over a kilometer in diameter and home to about 300 permanent residents. On top of that, lights were added to bring a certain amount of pizzazz to the presentation. How this thing can support its own weight is itself an impressive feat of LEGO engineering. It took over two years to build, and I can see why. But I could wax hyperbolic about the eponymous space station from the Star Trek series Deep Space Nine, built by Adrian Drake from over 75,000 pieces, including an absurd amount of dark bluish grey. Thus, the title is not entirely hyperbolic. And if I curled up around the central core between the docking pylons, I could probably fit. Ok, so not quite, but it is approximately eight feet in diameter, and I am only a little over six feet tall, so it is bigger than I am. ![]()
